Tina Hlimi
Tina Hlimi is a 2014-2015 Articling Student at NLS. Tina has an interdisciplinary background in legal aid, natural resources management, environmental health and international development. In her last year of law school, Tina visited Kirinyaga, Kenya, a small town located on the slopes of Mount Kenya, with the assistance of the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP), McGill University, CIDA, and the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). While in Kenya, Tina provided legal aid services to local farmers in the realm of land and property rights, while also developing a partnership with Kituo Cha Sheria, a legal aid NGO in Nairobi. Tina holds a transystemic Bachelor of Common Law (LL.B) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.) degree from McGill University’s Faculty of Law, as well as a Masters degree in Environment and Resource Studies (MES) from the University of Waterloo. Tina is also the recipient of the JSD Tory writing award for outstanding legal research and writing ability leading to a publication, and the Joseph-Armand Bombardier SSHRC Graduate scholarship. |
